Verein der Auslandspresse invites to
On the evening of the 29th September it will once more be called: Welcome to the traditional annual reception of the Verein der Ausländischen Presse in Deutschland. Correspondents across the world, from newspapers and magazines, news agencies, broadcast and TV-stations as well as web portals will be apart of the current information occurences with their colleagues, with politician of the governing- and opposition parties, with high representatives of the the economy and members of the Diplomatic Corps to spend an inspiring evening together. As usual, for the opening speech we were able to attain the incumbent foreign minister. The venue in this year will be the Landesvertretung Baden-Württemberg in the former diplomatic district at the sidelines of the Berliner Tiergarten. Here, at the beginning of the reception, the Media Award of the foreign press will be assigned. With this gesture, journalists want to thank one personality of the public life for theire notably support within the past year.
The Verein der Auslandspresse was founded on the 30th June 1906 in Berlin by 26 correspondents of internationale newspapers and agencies. From that point they represented their common interests towards the host country and bilaterally helped each other working as well as to socialize.
And that's what it's still about today. What has changed is the number of members - more than 400 colleagues from about 60 countries account to the independent, subscription financed association. The VAP invites its members to about 60 press conversations annualy: Chancellor, Federal President –Minister, the top of the in parliament represented parties, chairman of DAX-Companies, eyewitnesses of important events of german history, academics and artists count to its guests.
In April 2010 Alexander Steiner, the co-owner, has undertaken the management of the Winery Zimmerlin where he jointly, together with the Zimmerlin family and the technical director, wants to lead the Winery in a successful future. The studied economist and agronomist went to School in Spain and Germany and spent many years in Canada.
Alexander Steiner has been active in numerous corporations in the industry as well as in the service industry, recently as a chief financial officer and regional manager Central-Europe of an insurance company. A man of numbers that is also keen on good wine, doesn't only regard economic analysis but also want's to satisfy sophisticated connoisseurs with Zimmerlin wines.
The Father of two children is active voluntarily in social caring. In his leisure time he prefers to spend time with his family, by the water or with a good book. His favorite wines are dry Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
With Bettina Schumann the Winery Zimmerlin decrees of a technical director that has passion and expert knowledge that results in prime wines. The native Berlinerin studied at the prestigious Fachhochschule Geisenheim in the Rheingau area, where she graduated in viticulture and enology. Already during her studies she gathered experience in different wine-growing regions of the world. She also graduated with an international degree in Friaul (Italy) and worked in wineries in New Zeeland and Austria.
What most notably fascinates her about viticulture is the diversity of tasks. „The cycle from the pruning until the bottlig is year by year new and different – in order to make good wine, one is on all levels of the production repeatedly challenged anew“. Her favorite grape varietys are Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Her hobbies are foreign languages, especially French and Italian.
